A CHARITY superstore which raises funds to support families affected by autism is looking for volunteers to help out.

The Daisy Chain superstore, just off Portrack Lane in Stockton, receives almost 1,000 bags of donations every week and about 30 to 40 van collections each week – and all of it needs to be sorted through.

Volunteers are a vital support to the enterprise. Now the Stockton-based charity is holding a volunteer taster day where anyone interest can try their hand at working in retail.

There are tasks from sorting donations and pricing them for the shop floor, to working on the tills.

Volunteer Kyle Brant, who has cerebral palsy, is hoping the skills he learns through volunteering will help get him a job.

The session is on Wednesday December 5 at 10am to 2pm at the Daisy Chain Superstore, Ross Road, Portrack Lane, Stockton-on-Tees where the volunteering team will be on hand to help and answer any queries.

Rob Kendall, volunteer manager, added: ‘Lots of people are interested in volunteering but they are uncertain as to what it involves, whether they will be able to do the work, what the commitment is. Our taster day will give them the opportunity to find out what they want to know without any obligation. To register for the day call 01642-531248.
