A MAN is being sought by police following an assault outside a Newcastle nightclub.

Northumbria Police have released a CCTV image of the man they would like to speak to after another man suffered a broken jaw and was knocked unconscious following an attack at the city's Tup Tup Palace nightclub, in Saint Nichola Street.

The attack happened at about 3.30am on October 10 and the 34-year-old was taken to hospital.

His injuries were not life-threatening and an investigation is now underway.

A police spokesperson said: "An investigation is underway and police have now identified a man they would like to speak to in connection with their enquiries.

"He is believed to have been in the area at the time of the alleged offence and may be able to assist officers."
