A PRISONER who attacked another inmate and a prison officer is to be assessed as to the danger he is considered to pose of committing further serious offences.

Judge Christopher Prince has asked the Probation Service to draw up a pre-sentence report on defendant Dylan Stephen Corbett in which his perceived “dangerousness” is considered.

It follows his admissions to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, on another inmate at Durham Prison, and assaulting a prison officer, both on November 14, last year.

He also admitted two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in prison, a sharpened plastic toilet brush handle and a razor blade.

Following his pleas, made over the video link from the prison, Judge Prince said: “I’m not minded to sentence today because I want to think about this sentence.

“Obviously it’s going to be a custodial sentence, it’s a case of whether he is considered a dangerous offender and how that will effect sentence.”

The case was adjourned for sentence on November 23.
