APPLICATIONS for primary school places in the Stockton Borough Council area are now open for children starting school in September 2019.

Parents and carers whose children were born between September 1, 204 and August 31, 2015, can select up to three school preferences and also provide reasons for the application.

There is no automatic transfer from nursery to primary school, so parents must apply even if their child attends a school nursery.

Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton Council’s cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Securing your preferred primary school place for your child is very important to ensure they have the best possible start to education.

“To avoid disappointment I would urge parents and carers to take the earliest opportunity to register an application with our school admissions team.”

The deadline to apply is January 15, 2019, and any late applications will only be considered after those made on time have been processed.

Letters will be sent to parents and carers on April 16, 2019, to inform them which school has been offered to their child. Those who applied online will receive an email confirmation.
