A SUSPECTED drug dealer has been arrested by police after calls from residents helped uncover a large cannabis farm
Neighbourhood officers swooped after getting received calls from residents about anti-social behaviour and drug dealing.
The farm contained 51 plants and was found in a unit on Pelaw Industrial Estate, in Gateshead, in a joint operation with the North East Regional Special Operations Unit (NERSOU).
A 50-year-old man was arrested in connection with the farm and has since been released under investigation.
Inspector Andy Summers, of the Gateshead East neighbourhood policing team, said: “I want the residents to know that we are listening to their concerns and this operation will provide a clear and effective response.”
