A NEW class has been launched for people keen to try or return to netball.
Walking Netball sessions, which introduce players of all ages and abilities to a slowed down version of the game, are held every Thursday night in Bishop Auckland.
Founder member Gladys Short said: "Two of us are ex netball players and still competitive and keen to enjoy sport and feel this is a version of the game that is very accessible.
"Next week is our fourth week, we started with five members and now have about 13. We do warm-ups, skills training, small game situations and it is all very sociable and enjoyable.
"If we can get a few more people and they are interested we are talking about entering a tournament next March."
Anyone interested can attend a session in the sports hall at King James I Academy, on South Church Road, on Thursdays, from 6pm to 7pm, or call 01388-603388 for details. Cost per session is £3.
The group is currently self-funded but is being supported by England Netball and Durham County Council.
