A MAN arrested in connection with a bomb scare at a school and leisure has been released by police.

Consett Academy and Leisure Centre in County Durham were evacuated at around 1pm yesterday (Wednesday, October 17) after the emergency call room received a threat to the building.

It was found to be a hoax and occupants returned safety to the building.

Officers investigating the incident subsequently arrested a man, and have today confirmed that he has been released while enquires continue.

A spokeswoman for Durham police said: "A 32-year-old man has been released under investigation."
