A COUNTY Durham man has appeared in court after a young father was stabbed to death in car park.

Christopher Harm, from Gateshead, was stabbed in Dudley, in the West Midlands, in the early hours of Saturday.

Glen Elvin, from Stanley, in County Durham, has been charged with murder.

The 25-year-old, of Fern Avenue, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court today.

No pleas were entered and he has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at the court, which has been scheduled for November 19.

Mr Harm, 28, from Sunniside, was stabbed at about 1am on Saturday, in Engine Lane, Brierly Hill.

Police say a forensic post mortem examination concluded that Mr Harm died from a single stab wound.

Detective Inspector Harry Harrison, from the homicide team, said: “We continue to try and establish the circumstances around the sad death of this man.

“We still need anyone who has any information about what happened to come forward and talk to us.

His family paid tribute to Mr Harm, describing him as a loving son, dad and brother.

Wellwishers have raised more than £3,000 to help with funeral costs.
