A BUSKER has raised more than £100 for charity by playing in the rain on over the weekend.

Nicola Mirams, 29, played gentle tunes for shoppers in Durham on Saturday as part of a tour of the country playing in different locations.

Her twelfth busk was in the Market Place of the city where she studied history and was in aid of the The Samaritans of Central Durham.

Ms Mirams said: “It went very well, despite the rain. Someone came over and bought me a cup of tea, which was very nice.

“One person said they had seen me in the paper and was there when I arrived and he gave me £20 before I had even started.

“It was lovely being back in Durham where I spent so much time ten years ago.

“It was like coming to my second home.”

Ms Mirams, from Leicester, has now raised over £1,500 for the various charities she has supported

She added: “It has really struck a chord with people.”
