A SUSPECTED drug dealer has been arrested after a late night police chase.
Officers in Consett attempted to stop a black Saab on Friday evening in the Pemberton Road area of the town.
It failed to stop and was pursued around the Moorside area for several minutes before the driver eventually dumped the vehicle and ran.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: "Inside the vehicle a quantity of drugs and a police-style baton were found.
"The suspected driver was quickly located and a search of his bedroom revealed more drugs and a quantity of cash inside a safe.
"He has been arrested for failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply, drug driving and possession of an offensive weapon.
"The message is simple, if you are taking part in criminal activity, we will come looking for you."
