WORK is due to start on a £10m development which will see 73 homes built in a village.

Cheviot Holdings Ltd was given planning permission for the scheme in Lingey House Farm, near Fulworth Way, Sacriston in 2017.

The company has now signed an agreement with Tolent Living to carry out the work.

Completion of the Sacriston site will be expected to be in May 2021 and we will see a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes, with funding being provided by Homes England.

Philip Evans, Director of Cheviot Holdings Ltd said: “Cheviot Holdings Limited are delighted to be working on our first development in the North East with Tolent Living, our partners, on this quality housing development over the next couple of years. We are pleased to have received very positive feedback from the local community, via Councillor Heather Liddle, regarding this quality bespoke scheme which will improve the standard of new housing for the community”

Mike Brown, Commercial Director at Tolent added: “Tolent are extremely excited to start works on this site now that we have developed a partnership with Cheviot Holdings Ltd. This will certainly be a great venture for both ourselves and Cheviot Holdings Ltd. The project will deliver fantastic new homes for the area, and provide valuable jobs and opportunities to the local economy.”

In order to secure planning permission, the company had to redraw its plans for access from St Cuthbert’s Meadow, which was removed from the scheme.

It will be accessed from Lingey Close and Acorn Close.
