A MULTI-million pound publicly-funded hotel has made its second major appointment.

Lorna Hobson, originally from Yarm, is the new sales manager at the Hampton by Hilton hotel in Stockton.

She has now relocated to Hartburn with her family after working in a similar role in the North-West.

She said: “I intend to be really proactive in this role – I will be engaging with the local business community to understand potential markets to tap into, and find out how we can take advantage of what Stockton has to offer."

Councillor Nigel Cooke, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, added: “We are very pleased to welcome Lorna, who joins General Manager John Lambourne-Richardson as the first recruits of the Hampton by Hilton hotel.

“Her previous experience and hands-on approach will be key in developing positive relationships with local businesses and the community. We can’t wait to utilise her skills in attracting and providing a warm welcome to both leisure and corporate visitors.”

The hotel site forms part of the mixed-use Northshore regeneration scheme, incorporating new offices, homes and leisure facilities near Stockton town centre.
