A FILM which aims to raise awareness about domestic abuse is being shown in community venues.
Make Do and Mend was made by Changing Relations, a County Durham arts education and training company.
Originally a play, which toured the North-East in 2016, it has now been turned into a film to try and raise more awareness of the subject.
Lisa Davis, founder of Changing Relations, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with this recognition of the value of our approach to building community awareness and confidence to tackle domestic abuse in our midst.”
The company has been given funding to allow the film to be shown for free in four community venues.
The first one takes place at St John’s School, in Bishop Auckland, at 6pm on Thursday. Further screenings will be held at the Memorial Hall, West Auckland, at 8pm on Wednesday, October 17, and on the following day at Auckland Youth and Community Centre, Bishop Auckland, at 1pm and at the Parish Centre, St Helen Auckland, at 8pm.
It will be shown at venues in Teesdale, Tow Law, east Durham and Willington in the coming months.
