POLICE are appealing for information after a 29-year-old man was found knocked unconscious outside a pub.

The incident happened in the Market Place in Richmond, North Yorkshire, in the early hours of Friday, October 5.

The ambulance service contacted police at 12.30am with a report of a serious assault on a man who was found with injuries to his head, outside the Town Hall Hotel.

He was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for further treatment, which resulted in him undergoing surgery for a fracture cheekbone.

Police are keen to identify a man who was seen in the area at the time of the assault.

He is described as 5ft 9ins tall, with dark hair and was wearing a black t-shirt with a shiny logo the front.
