Vote register

TIME is running out for Richmondshire residents to get their names on the new Register of Electors. The District Council has put out a final call to householders still needing to complete the paperwork which will make sure their names are on the register when it is published on December 1. Without this listing residents will not be able to vote when elections take place and people who have registered in previous years but fail to respond this year run the risk of having their names deleted from the register.

Video session

CREATING high-quality video content is the topic of a Breakfast Briefing at the Springboard Business Centre in Stokesley on Friday October, 14. Andy Carter from Beambitious will show delegates how to create high quality and effective content by using a smartphone. The monthly briefings are run by Hambleton District Council and take place on the second Friday of each month from 8am to 9am. They cost £5 per delegate, including breakfast. Cash stolen

CASH has been stolen from a community building in South Otterington. The building was broken into some time between 5pm on September 20 and 10am on September 23. If anyone has any information about the burglary or saw any suspicious activity in the area between those times, report to the police on 101.

Chimney fire

A CHIMNEY fire was put out by firefighters in the early hours of the morning. A crew from Whitby dealt with the blaze at a house on Lowdale Lane, Sleights, at around 2am on Monday morning. They used one hosereel, chimney rods, a thermal imaging camera, a triple extension ladder and hearth kit to deal with the fire. The cause was believed to be an accumulation of soot.

Soup lunch

THORNTON Watlass WI are holding a ‘soup and puds’ lunch on Saturday, October 13 in the village hall from noon. The village is near Bedale and all are welcome to attend.
