NOVELIST Carmen Marcus has joined Writers’ Block North East in search for new writing talent in the region.

The creative writing organisation, based on Middlesbrough, is looking for people who want to write a novel.

Laura Degnan, who started Writers’ Block in 2010 to help writers in Teesside develop their skills, said: “We’re looking for raw talent. No previous experience necessary. You just need a great idea and the will to get it written. And who better to help us launch this year’s opportunity than local success story Carmen Marcus?”

Her debut novel ‘How Saints Die’, which was published by Harvill Secker in 2017 and long-listed for the prestigious Desmond Elliott Prize in 2018, was developed with support from the Teesside writing organisation.

Twelve writers will be selected for a year-long course and the deadline for applications to the latest project is 5pm on Monday, October 15. Visit www.writersblocknortheast.com/2018
