DETECTIVES investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a Middlesbrough home have confirmed they are treating her death as murder.

A 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.

A post mortem examination has taken place and the victim is yet to be formally identified.

Officers would again appeal for anyone with information to get in touch; particularly if they heard a noisy disturbance or saw or heard anything suspicious in the vicinity of Tomlinson Way between around 11pm on Saturday night and 8.30am on Sunday.

The woman's body was found at a house in the Tomlinson Way area of Middlesbrough after police officers were called by the ambulance service just before 9am on Sunday, October, 7.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said at the weekend: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the woman’s death and we do not currently believe there is any risk to the wider public.

"He is in police custody awaiting questioning by detectives."
