A BRASS band is preparing to lend its support to a town's community arts centre with a charity concert.

Barnard Castle Brass Band will be hosting a fundraising concert for The Witham community arts centre, in Barnard Castle, on Sunday, Ocotber 28.

The event is in support of the centre's Investing In The Witham Appeal - a campaign launched to help raise £150,000 for the centre by the end of the year.

It follows a successful campaign this summer when £30,000 was raised in 30 days to safeguard the centre from closure.

The band, led by conductor Andrew Nicholson, will be delivering a program filled with a variety of pieces.

Sarah Gent, arts marketing manager at The Witham, said: "It’s wonderful to have the support of this talented group of musicians bringing brass to The Witham.

"Please do come along to enjoy an evening of lively brass music.

"Thank you to all who are giving their time to perform here to support The Witham."

The concert will begin at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for those aged 16 and under. For tickets visit thewitham.org.uk or call 01833-631107.
