GOGGLEBOX star Scarlett Moffatt has brought her hometown community together to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here winner opened the Angel Trust’s Halloween pop-up shop at the old McIntyres building in Bishop Auckland.

Scarlett said: “Everyone seems to love it, I’m overwhelmed with it.

“You never know when you will need the Angel Trust’s help and all the money goes into County Durham and Darlington, so you can see what it does for the area.

Scarlett hopes the pop-up shop will boost trade in the area and bring more people into the town.

She added: “I feel like we’ve brought everyone together because the town used to be really busy but now it’s dying a little bit and we want to bring people back.

“We’ve got nice shops and we’re very lucky, but we still need to support our local business.”

Volunteer Oliver Dickenson has been volunteering with the Angel Trust from July and was pleased to see the big turnout.

The 19-year-old said: “You see more shops closing than you do opening in Bishop.

“It’s really good to see a new business and all the money will go to people who need it the most.”

Once the Halloween stock has sold out, Scarlett is teaming up with the Angel Trust to create a Christmas pop-up shop at the same venue.
