A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital following a suspected assault.
The incident is believed to have happened at a property in Kitchener Terrace, in Ferryhill, on Friday, September 28, but was not reported to police until Sunday.
A 51-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he remains in a critical condition.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Durham police on 101, quoting incident number 210 of September 30.
