STAFF and volunteers at the TCR Hub, in Barnard Castle, have been working hard behind the scenes to think of innovative ways of investing in the work that they do with local children and young people.

One such method planned over the Autumn months is a series of tapas and live music events that will take place in the main atrium of the community venue.

The Hub currently hosts more than 500 people per week who participate in a diverse range of activity from pottery to pilates, BMX to bass guitar. Many of the activities that involve children and young people are subsidised to ensure everyone can access them and this includes the music studios, outdoor activities and community transport project.

CEO Rachel Tweddle said the events will draw in a new crowd.

"We know that the community still associate the bulk of our work with children and young people and we are very proud of our heritage but we do so much for adults too," she said. "This is the perfect activity to run, which will be spectacular for adults but also a unique way to invest in the resources available to our younger members of the community."

Profits from the evening will go towards the upkeep of the resources in the venue, including the music studio and outdoor facilities used by many groups from across the area.

Contact the TCR Hub on 01833-690150 to book your ticket. The first event is October 12, at 7pm and tickets cost £15 per person. There will be a full bar open until 11pm.
