NORTHALLERTON Rotarians celebrated almost a quarter-century of service at their annual dinner marking the granting of their charter.
Around 80 guests were entertained with a drinks reception and three course meal at The Forum, Northallerton.
David Kerfoot MBE DL, a Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, was guest speaker.
He spoke amusingly about the role of the Lord Lieutenancy representing The Queen in the county, about the long history of the role, the great responsibility and the rare occasions when Royal visits to the county don’t go quite to plan.
The event was attended by guests from other nearby Rotary Clubs and the District Governor Nigel Arthurs who presented Paul Harris Fellowship Awards to Rotarians Peter Tweddle, Sue Bush, Geoff Wall and Diane Pownall.
The raffle raised £460 for the Sir Robert Ogden MacMillan Cancer Centre which is nearing completion at the Friarage Hospital.
