A POPULAR fireworks night which raises money for a local hospice is set to return for another year.

St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham, is once again holding a fireworks night ahead of bonfire night.

The annual event, held at Framwellgate School, will take place on Saturday, November 3, and will feature a fireworks display set to music from films from through the decades.

Event organiser Jade McArdle said: “We had an amazing response to our event last year. It was a fantastic night and it was wonderful to hear the gasps of excitement from the crowd every time a firework went off.

“We are excited to return to Framwellgate School, it’s a fantastic venue and Reaction Fireworks will manage the display again this year to ensure the event is another show-stopper.

“The display will be set to a fantastic soundtrack of songs from movies throughout the decades.”

The evening will also including entertainment, fairground rides, food and refreshments.

Last year’s event, which raised more than £20,000 for the hospice, was attended by more than 4,000 people, who enjoyed watching the skies about Durham brought to life by fireworks.

Money raised through the event will help the hospice to continue to provide care, free of charge, to people with life-limiting illnesses in County Durham.

Anyone who wants to attend is encouraged to buy tickets, which are £5 for adults, £3 for under 15s and free for under twos, in advance.
