GATESHEAD climbed to within six points of the National League summit as they ran out emphatic 3-0 winners at Chesterfield.
Scott Boden, a former Chesterfield player, opened the scoring for the Heed in the 18th minute as he poked home from close range.
Martin Allen’s Chesterfield side have now picked up just two points from a possible 27, and Gateshead doubled their lead two minutes before the interval as Steven Rigg curled home from just outside the area.
Chesterfield substitute Zavon Hines was sent off within eight minutes of coming onto the field for a foul on Greg Olley, and Gateshead made the points safe midway through the second half as Boden scored his second goal following some good work from Robbie Tinkler.
