A CHARITY golf day has raised thousands of pounds for a North-East hospice.

Sixteen teams made up of local businesses and charity supporters took to the fairway to take part in St Cuthbert’s Hospice annual charity golf day, held at Ramside Hall, Durham.

Competitions on the day included ‘Nearest the Pin,’ ‘Longest Drive’ and ‘Beat the Pro’. With participants also enjoying a carvery lunch and raffle whilst back at the clubhouse.

Jade McArdle, senior community and events fundraiser at St Cuthbert’s Hospice said: “We look forward to St Cuthbert’s Hospice Golf Day each September. It’s a great way for community minded business leaders to get together for a good cause and perhaps get to know each other as well. Golf Day is always very well attended and it’s great to see all the different businesses come out to support St Cuthbert’s.”

“Even though we didn’t have the best weather on the day everyone still had smiles on their faces and it definitely didn’t dampen any spirits. We’re so grateful to all who came along to take part in the friendly competition.”

The Charity Golf Day, sponsored by Wellsprings Properties Ltd, has raised over £8,000 with further money expected over the coming days. All funds will support the care given, free of charge, by St Cuthbert’s Hospice to those in County Durham with life-limiting illnesses.
