A VISIT from one of The Prince’s Trust top bosses proved the ideal opportunity for Stockton Riverside College to shine a spotlight on their students’ success.

The charity’s UK Chief Executive Nick Stace met with Prince’s Trust staff and students at the college during a whistle-stop visit to the region.

Chatting to young people from the college’s Achieve and Team programmes, the chief exec said: “I came along to see the Achieve for slightly older learners in practice.”

Stockton Riverside College delivers a dedicated version of Achieve to those aged 16 to 18, who are not sure what area they would like to study, offering the chance to build their confidence and employability skills over a one-year programme. The course also includes a part-time work placement.

Nick said: “I discovered that this college is a pioneer across the region and probably across the country in what they are doing, reconnecting these young people with education, training and with employment.”

With 82 per cent of the college’s Prince’s Trust students moving on to positive destinations, he said the statistics speak for themselves but he added that the true testament comes from speaking to the young people themselves.
