DALES vet Neville Turner will share stories about his life and career to raise funds for an arts venue.

Mr Turner will present A Wonderful Life at The Witham, in Barnard Castle, on Wednesday, from 7.30pm.

Mr Turner was born in Crook and went to Wolsingham Grammar School and Edinburgh University before working as a vet in Teesdale for more than 40 years.

He will talk about his career, and other fascinating things he has experienced through his love of the natural world, writing and photography.

Last October he presented a programme of music, pictures and anecdotes to a sell-out 170-strong audience.

He said: “It is just an account of all the marvellous, often serendipitous, things that have happened to me over the years; things that have, quite by chance, enriched my life beyond my wildest dreams.”

Sarah Gent, The Witham marketing manager, said: “We are really pleased to welcome Neville for a second evening, following the success of last year, and really appreciate his support of The Witham.”

Tickets are £6 on 01833-631107, at the box office from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday, or online at thewitham.org.uk
