FARMING charity The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) is holding a harvest ball in October to raise money for farmers in financial hardship.

The ball will take place in the Pavilions at the Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on October 13 and includes a three-course meal, music from Atlantic 45 and a fundraising auction.

Sally Conner, RABI regional manager for the North-East said this year’s extreme weather has caused issues for many farmers.

She added: “Now, we’re seeing people come to us for help because of fodder shortages, poor crop yields and cash flow problems. Farming is often an uncertain business, but this year it has been especially difficult for many people to plan ahead.”

RABI gives out grants of around £2m to farmers each year.

Organised by RABI’s North Yorkshire committee, the autumn ball is being supported by Farmers and Mercantile, Barclays and the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.Ball tickets are available from Sally.conner@rabi.org.uk
