AT KING Street we understand that choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make so we would like to invite you and your child to visit us to soak up the wonderful atmosphere.

We run an open door policy and are always happy to answer any questions or to arrange a visit so you can come and see us.

King Street Primary and Pre-School is a thriving community school in Spennymoor where your child can imagine, enquire and learn in a safe, caring and stimulating environment.

Our school caters for children from the ages of three to 11 and is very well resourced to ensure every child’s needs can be met. Curriculums are designed to suit all learning styles and as well as including outdoor education place emphasis on creativity.

Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has recently undergone extensive redevelopment and can now deliver an exceptional beginning to your child’s educational journey.

Our parental feedback has been amazing. It has included the following two comments: “I have been impressed this year with the layout of the EYFS setting, it is very interactive.”

“It’s been lovely seeing all the children enjoying playing in the gorgeous school, a home from home environment. I loved (Olivia’s) books and seeing all the photos that have been taken they are priceless as I feel a huge part of those special moments. Everyone has been welcoming and friendly and it has been a pleasure to come along.”

Our EYFS unit prides itself on creating a natural, homely ethos as well as its ability to follow the children’s interests and teach new concepts through play.

The redevelopment was guided by the three characteristics of effective learning:

• Playing and exploring – children investigate, experience things and have a go;

• Active learning – children concentrate and keep on trying even if they encounter difficulties, then enjoy their achievements.

• Creative and thinking critically – children have and develop their own links between ideas and develop strategies for doing things.

In addition to our extra-curricular clubs – which are run most afternoons – we also offer breakfast and after-school care from 7.45am-5.45pm to ensure children receive the optimum level of quality childcare.

Why not join us in school for our Open Sessions at 9.30am and 1.30pm on October 2 when you can see learning in action.
