DISRUPTION is set to return to Christchurch's roads next week with a series of overnight closures as part of a traffic improvement scheme.

All three roads which lead to Hurn Roundabout - Avon Causeway, Christchurch Road and Parley Lane - will be closed between 8pm and 6am on Monday, September 24 until Friday, September 28.

The closures are needed to allow contractors employed by Dorset County Council to carry out road resurfacing and are part of the work to improve traffic flow at the busy commuter route.

Hurn and St Catherine's ward councillor Margaret Phipps previously spoke out with concerns about the timing of overnight work, but said if the closures did not clash with work on the A338 Spur Road then the problems should not be too bad.

"We have had overnight closures before, but when they are not any other works on hopefully it will be okay," Cllr Phipps said.
