A CHARITY that provides life-enhancing experiences for seriously ill children and adults has hailed the success of its first fundraising event in North Yorkshire.
Bishop Auckland-based Bringing Back a Smile branched out to Thirsk in July and the team host its inaugural fundraiser at nearby Sutton Gun Club, Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe, on Sunday.
More than 70 people took part in the event which raised £2,254 - a total boosted by Barclays Bank match funding, a tombola, merchandise sales and a barbecue.
Founder Kevin Hill praised colleagues and organisers Suzie Dodds and Jason Smallridge, adding: "It was something we really didn't expect to raise. I think they (participants) must have looked at the website and must appreciate what we're doing."
