EXAM success at a local school means that 100 per cent of its students leave to go on to further education or straight into jobs.

Staindrop Academy, in County Durham, is celebrating another great year of improved GCSE results, which it attributes to the dedication and hard work of students and staff, as well as the invaluable support of parents and governors.

Headteacher, Alyson Carr, said, “We are thrilled to have achieved some incredible results this summer. The past two years have seen enormous changes in the GCSE courses and yet 79% of our cohort achieved a pass in English, and 75% in Mathematics - both above the national average. An impressive 85% passed both English and/or Mathematics.”

The school is committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for every child with high expectations and traditional British values. It takes pride in challenging and supporting every child to achieve their academic potential and to become exemplary young people to make their own way in the world.

Sporting success is another strength of the school which has a strong reputation for providing athletes who go on to represent the county, and in some cases, even the country. The school is the County Athletics Champions 2018 with 90 per cent of GCSE PE students passing at grade 4+.

Staindrop Academy is a small, well-regarded, high achieving and popular school at the heart of a rural community, whose motto, ‘Aspire, Achieve and to be Successful’ goes hand-in-hand with its commitment to ensure that every child is happy, successful, safe, valued and cared for. An open evening is being held on Thursday, September 20, between 6pm and 8pm, to give parents and students in years 5 and 6 the chance to see the excellent facilities and to ask questions.

Headteacher, Alyson Carr will speak to parents in the main hall at 6pm, and the vibrant classrooms will be open, for parents to meet the outstanding team of friendly and caring staff.

The new state-of-the-art IT facilities, refurbished classrooms and PE facilities will be available for inspection, and examples of excellent student work will be on display.

If you would like to make an arrangement to visit, then please telephone the school or email through the website.
