AN 85-year-old has died in hospital after being knocked over by a car in a medical centre car park.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said the pedestrian was in the car park of the Blaydon Clinic Medical Centre on Shibdon Road, Blaydon, at 12.20pm yesterday.
The spokesman said: "While walking near the entrance of the car park he was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Zafira.
"He was taken to hospital but his condition later deteriorated and sadly he passed away.
"The driver was spoken to at the scene of the collision but they were not injured in any way.
"Inquiries into the collision are ongoing but police are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch."
Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has a dashboard camera that may have captured the collision.
Anyone who can help should contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting log 467 12/09/18, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or email 471@northumbria.pnn.police.uk.
