ONLINE meat supplier Farmison and Co is investing £5m to move into larger premises from its city centre location.

The firm has been in the historic cathedral city of Ripon since 2011, but is about to move from its current 6,000sq ft headquarters on Canalside to a 50,000sq ft state-of-the-art building in Bondgate Green, east of the city.

Farmison and Co has been supplying hand-cut artisan meat to households and chefs throughout the UK and beyond.

The new building, the first stage of which is due to open at the end of September, will be technologically multi-functional and will eventually house a butchery academy for training and education; a Click and Collect store; a library of meat literature from around the world; AV-equipped meeting rooms; cold store rooms; maturation rooms; a viewing platform and a Yorkshire herb garden terrace.

There will even be a dedicated space for the firm’s Ripon Cathedral bacon range.

Lee Troupe, special projects controller who recently joined Farmison and Co from Asda and who is overseeing the move to the new premises, said: “Not only will the new HQ give an even better service to the customer, we have gone to great lengths to ensure that our team has been given the best possible working environment.

“As our aim is to double the workforce in 2019, I’m sure that these desirable working conditions will help attract some great local talent. It’s very exciting for Farmison right now, and I am delighted to have joined the company at such a dynamic and innovative time.”

All deliveries will be dispatched from the new HQ.
