THREE free events have been organised to give up to date advice to residents about the potential impacts of Brexit.

The first public session will be held at The Sage, Gateshead, on Thursday, September 20, 5.30pm to 7pm. It will focus on citizens’ rights and will be attended by MEP Jude Kirton-Darling, and the director of immigration specialists Seraphus solicitors, Christopher Desira.

The second session at The Stadium of Light in Sunderland, on Tuesday, October 30, 8am to 10.30am, will focus on the potential impact of Brexit to local businesses.

The final event will discuss Brexit’s influence on higher education. It will be at Durham University on Thursday, November 1, 6pm to 7.30pm.

All are arranged by the Europe Direct service, managed by Durham County Council.

Brian Stobie, the council’s international officer, said: “It is hoped these events will allow people to ask the questions that are important to them. The events will not reflect any political viewpoint, but aim to inform people as to how a Brexit deal may affect them.” To book a place email Europe.direct@durham.gov.uk or call 03000-268500.
