CHARITY volunteers have been honoured for their community work with a lasting tribute at a new housing development.
David Wilson Homes have celebrated the achievements of the volunteers at the Sporting Memories Network by unveiling a special engraved plaque at its Castlegate development in Northallerton.
The housebuilder asked the Northallerton community which charity they wanted to see on the plaque and The Sporting Memories Network won.
The charity supports older people living with dementia, depression and loneliness by engaging them in social activities and helping them to recall memories of watching or playing sport.
Area project officer, Megan Hale, praised all the volunteers.
She said: “I’m delighted that we are able to recognise all of the hard work, time and effort that the volunteers have dedicated to The Sporting Memories Network.
“The whole group is really wonderful, and it’s great to see members of the community valuing their efforts.”
