THE stars of ITV drama, Victoria, have been in York filming scenes for the next series of the popular historical drama.

The cast and crew set up at the historic Eye of York, with several horses and carriages and a large number of extras in Victorian costume.

Stars Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes were spotted on set preparing for a scene outside York Crown Court, which is decorated with bunting and labelled as Dublin City Hall.

Victoria, starring Jenna Coleman and Laurence Fox - who plays Lord Palmerston - is now in its third series, with filming also taking place at Church Fenton Studios and other locations in Yorkshire.

Whilst on location outside York Crown Court and York Castle Museum, the area was closed to traffic until the evening, with vehicles restricted on Castlegate, Fossgate, Piccadilly and Tower Street.

During August scenes were shot at the Merchant Adventurers Hall, a medieval Grade I-listed building situated in the Museum Gardens in York.

Other well-known Yorkshire locations used in filming have included Castle Howard, Whitby Pier, Duncombe Park in Helmsley and Newby Hall near Ripon.
