A CHARITY clay shoot involving 46 teams has raised more than £40,000 for local good causes.
The event, organised and hosted by the Dawnay Estates in Wykeham, near Scarborough, has raised more than £40,000 for Saint Catherine’s Hospice and the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Held in the grounds of Wykeham Abbey, dozens of teams took part in the shoot, which was followed by an auction that help raise the majority of the money. Prizes donated included art, food and drink and country sports activities.
The Dawnay Estates comprises two estates in North Yorkshire; the Wykeham Estate, near Scarborough, and the Danby Estate, which consists of a grouse moor and hill farms in the North York Moors National Park, near Whitby.
Nicky Grunwell, fundraiser for Saint Catherine’s Hospice said: “We are thrilled that The Dawnay Estates chose to support Saint Catherine’s with this event. It was a truly wonderful day enjoyed by all and we are over the moon that we have received such a fantastic donation.”
