A FAMILY Fun Day will be taking place at Great Ayton Cricket Club and Football Club between 1pm and 4.30pm on Sunday, September 16. There will be stalls, games, tombola, children’s races, egg throwing and tug of war. Admission is free and parking is available. The event is dog-friendly and a bar is available in the club house.

Tools stolen

POWER tools were stolen after two steel containers in Angram, a hamlet in Swaledale, were broken into overnight on Wednesday, September 5. If anyone has information, they should contact police on 101, quoting reference 0056 of the 6th.

Society open

REQUESTS from residents has led to Newcastle Building Society announcing an extension to the opening hours of its Stokesley branch. The branch on Stokesley’s High Street is now open between 9am and 1pm on Saturdays.

Smoky light

A FIRE crew from Richmond was called to a business on Finkle Street after reports of a smell of smoke in the area on Thursday night. Upon arrival the crew discovered that the smell had been caused by fumes from an overheated light fitting. Crew members used a triple extension ladder and thermal imaging camera for inspection only.

Meeting time

THE start time of a meeting of Hambleton District Council’s Licensing Committee has been put back by one hour. The meeting will now take place at 10.30am in the main committee room, Civic Centre, Northallerton. The reason for the change of start time is enable a meeting of the Licensing and Appeals Hearings Panel to take place at 9.30am.

Flu clinics

THE Lambert Medical Centre in Thirsk is running flu clinics for people aged 65 and over and those with long term medical conditions. The clinics take place on September 22 and November 3 between 9am and 11.45am. No appointment is necessary.
