TOP-class motor racing will be roaring back to the North-East this weekend for a two-day meet of the British Racing and Sports Car Club.

The Club’s inaugural TCR UK season comes to Croft Circuit, near Darlington, on Satuday and Sunday, for round 11 and 12 in the series with it all to play for in the championship.

The race programme will also include thrills and spills from the Avon Tyres National Formula Ford 1600 Championship, Miltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup, Speed Group F1000 Championship, Kerax Hyperdrive ST-XR Challenge, BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Supercup and the DDMC Northern Sports and Saloon Car Championship.

Practice gets under way at 9.30am on Saturday, with the action starting at noon on Sunday.

A Croft Circuit spokesman said: “Set to be in the mix for victory will be championship protagonist and second placed Ollie Taylor, whilst Derek Palmer, Lewis Kent and another ex-BTCC driver Stewart Lines can’t be counted out either.

“Swedish siblings Andreas and Jessica Backman are expected to go well, but don’t count on reigning BTCC champion Ash Sutton repeating his double victory at the previous round at Oulton Park, but it just goes to demonstrate the prestige of the TCR UK series.”

Petrolheads will have free paddock access and parking with their tickets.
