MEDIEVAL enthusiasts from across the world are heading to Wensleydale from today for a festival dedicated solely to music from the Middle Ages.
The four-day Medieval Music in the Dales festival runs from today until Sunday at Bolton Castle, near Leyburn. And visitors from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and France will be at the festival, which will enable them to see some of the rarest musical instruments being played including the crumhorn, the double flute, and six different types of medieval bagpipe. According to festival organisers the event is growing an international following because of its mix of concerts performed by 80 of the world's top medieval music performers, together with workshops and activities for enthusiastic amateurs. Activities are held in the Castle's tavern, rooms and grounds. Visit www.medievalmusicinthedales.co.uk for more information.
