THE body of a man has been found in woodland in Peterlee.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 9.30am on Tuesday to woodland near Pentland Close, in Peterlee, following reports that a man’s body had been found.
"The death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem is due to take place later this evening.”
"The woodland area was cordoned off by officers.The incident has prompted numerous comments on social media.
One person said in a Facebook posting: "The police are giving nothing away. Just been to ask if we have CCTV."
Another person said: "When I came around in the taxi it was taped off and people in white suits were there. It's scary it's just over the road from us."
Other remarks were "I hope that family, whoever it is, finds peace" and "it's on the field about half way from the black path(a19) to the road near Girton".
