ETHERLEY and Toft Hill Historical Society will met at Etherley Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 11, at 7pm. The meeting will feature a talk by Steve Erskine of The Green Howards Museum, titled First Day of the Somme. All welcome, members free and non-members £3.

Dance night

DANCING to Mike Foxcroft is held at Ferryhill Catholic Club, Dean Road, Ferryhill, every Sunday night, from 8pm to 10.30pm. Admission £3.

Craft fair

WITTON Park Village Hall, on Main Street, Witton Park, will hold its first craft and gift fair on Saturday, September 15, from 10am to 2pm. There will be stalls from local traders, sand art, jewellery, cushions, pet accessories and a pop up kitchen with Just Like Grandma’s, tea, coffee, cake and sandwiches. AAP meeting

THE next Spennymoor Area Action Partnership board meeting is scheduled to take place at Kirk Merrington Village Hall on Thursday, September 20, 6pm to 8pm. Police appeal

STEEL and industrial goods have been stolen from a vehicle repair company.

Police are investigating the burglary which occurred at Randolph Coachworks Ltd, in Evenwood, between Monday, August 20 and Tuesday, 21.

The suspects forced entry into the property and once inside removed a number of items including steel, metal and a collection of industrial items.

PC Nicola Jackson, from Bishop Auckland response team, said: “We would like to reassure the public that we are exploring all lines of enquiry to bring the offenders to justice and are committed to protecting the community.”

She urged anyone with CCTV or information regarding the incident to call 101 quoting incident number 79 of August 21.
