YOUNGSTERS have opened an exclusive junk fashion shop today after getting creative with old clothes.

Eighteen young people aged between 11 and 18 have become entrepreneurs for the day with their Junk Fashion Bags shop in Horse Market, Barnard Castle.

The team has been recycling old clothes for the project in partnership with The Bowes Museum and Durham County Council.

They gained fashion design and textiles skills and vocational business skills through the museum's new Bowes Centre for Art, Craft and Design and held an exclusive launch party last night.

The project secured £3,500 in funding from the County Durham Community Foundation’s Youth Social Action Fund while the Teesdale Action Partnership donated £1,500.

The shop will be open today from 10am to 4pm.
