Music night

BROMPTON Flood Prevention Group will be holding a music night on Saturday, September 8 at 7pm at The Village Inn at Brompton village near Northallerton. Danger board

FIRECREWS were called to remove a wooden facia from a building that was dangerously hanging over a public footpath. The crew from Ripon used a 9m ladder to remove the board from the commercial property on North Street, Ripon, at 4.47pm on Tuesday.

History society

BEDALE Archaeology and History Society meets upstairs in Bedale Hall at 7.30pm on the first Tuesday of the month. At the next meeting on Tuesday September 4, Professor Dominic Powlesland, a Visiting/Honorary Professor at the Universities of Leeds, York, Huddersfield and Vienna, will be giving the second annual Percival Turnbull Memorial Lecture, entitled I saw it from the Air! The illustrated talk will cover what a fantastic year it has been for cropmarks as seen from a plane and a drone. Visitors are always welcome for £2 on the door.

Watermill open

CRAKEHALL Watermill in Bedale is holding an open day on Sunday from noon to 4pm. Admission is £4 adults, under 15s free and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Dance school

BUTTERFLIES Dance and Performing Arts school on Westgate, Thirsk, is enrolling now for September. The school offers pre-school ballet and tap sessions for boys and girls aged two and over. For details call 01845-522570.

Antiques fair

AN Antiques and Collectors Fair takes place at the Middleham Key Centre on Park Lane on, September 3. Refreshments will be available and it is open from 10am to 4pm.
