A TESCO delivery van had to be rescued after becoming wedged in a narrow rail tunnel on Wednesday morning.
The driver entered the tunnel on Parkside, which runs under the East Coast Mainline, from the Neasham Road end, not realising it becomes smaller at the Park Lane side.
The vehicle became wedged for some time until police attended and it was reversed out. The tunnel was closed while the delivery van was removed and Network Rail Engineers were on site to ensure the structure of the bridge was sound.
