HERITAGE Open Day tours are set to return to a cornerstone of the town centre, offering an insight into the behind-the-scenes workings of Darlington's central library.
Tours of the town's Crown Street Library will be held throughout September, with members of staff guiding members of the public around the site and into portions of the building not traditionally seen by library users.
Six dates have been confirmed for the tours over a two-week period.
The first open day will be held on Thursday, September 6, followed by Friday and Saturday, picking up on Thursday, September 13, Friday and Saturday.
The tours are free, however places are limited and must be booked in advance.
A small exhibition of documents revealing Crown Street Library's history will also be displayed in the Centre for Local Studies, between August 31 and September 15.
For more information on the Heritage Open Days, or to book, call 01325-349630.
Alternatively, visit Darlington's Crown Street Library or Centre for Local Studies and speak to a member of staff.
