CUSTOMERS are being encouraged to ‘get on board’ with a new water-based exercise class at Stokesley Leisure Centre.
FloatFit is a low-impact, high intensity workout using water to transform fitness.
Participants exercise in the swimming pool by balancing on a giant floating exercise platform called an AquaBase which is the world’s first floating exercise mat.
It uses a mixture of high intensity interval training with yoga style movements and focuses on using balance, flexibility and muscle strength.
Catherine Dewing, swim activator, said: “We have run a number of taster sessions throughout August which have proved to be very popular and successful.
“This is a new and unique way of working out that people of all ages and abilities will love and an alternative to working out in the gym.
“It is also part of the district council’s commitment to get more people into the water.
Thirty minute classes start on Wednesday, September 5 at 7.15pm, 7.50pm and 8.25pm.
