A TEENAGER has been released under investigation following an assault in Chester-le-Street on Monday morning.
The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of serious assault following the incident, which took place between 3am and 4am near the High Crown Pub on Front Street.
The victim, an 18-year-old man, is now described as being in a stable condition and awaiting treatment.
Police officers cordoned the street off on Monday while forensics teams investigated the scene.
Anybody with any information relating to the incident is asked to contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 60 of August 27.
Police would also like to thank members of the public for already providing information to assist the enquiry.
