Man airlifted

A MAN was airlifted to hospital after his car crashed into a field off the A169. It happened just north of Pickering at around 7.50am on Monday morning. Firecrews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the injured occupant who was transported to hospital by the air ambulance. There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.

Sheep rescued

FIRE Crews from Northallerton and Ripon rescued ten sheep from a mud pit in East Cowton. The crews were called to help at 12.22pm yesterday. They used an inflatable walkway and an animal rescue kit to retrieve the animals from the pit. Once safely clear of the pit, the sheep were left in care of the farmer.

Bingo night

A BINGO Fun Night takes place at Thirsk Town Hall this Friday, August 31. There will be cash prizes, raffle, games and a bar. All profits go to the Thirsk Christmas Lights fund and players can buy their Bingo tickets on the night. Doors open 7pm, eyes down 7.30pm.

Vintage fair

A VINTAGE and craft fair will take place at Richmond Town Hall on Sunday, September 2 from 10am until 4pm. The Chic Vintique event includes a mix of traders selling quality vintage, retro and craft items. Entry is free.

Activity day

A FAMILY Fun Day is taking place at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre in Carlton Miniott, Thirsk, on Sunday, September 2. There will be a great range of adventurous activities including zip wire, rope bridge and canoeing. Visitors can take along a picnic or try the food and drinks on offer. Children under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian and no dogs are permitted. The event is to raise funds for St John the Baptist Church in Kirby Wiske. It runs from 12.30pm to 4.30pm and admission charges vary depending on age.

Squash club

THIRSK Squash Club is holding an open day this Saturday from 10am.
